Radical Brotherhood – Relentless Service
The program theme for 2019-2027 is Black Boy R.I.S.E. This platform acts as a catalyst for mobilizing our membership to participate in philanthropic and service initiatives that further the mission of Delta Phi Upsilon. It focuses on the intersectional experiences of Black men who are gay, queer, bisexual, or same-gender-loving. Building on the legacy of our H.E.A.R.T. program’s five core targets—Health Awareness, History & Heritage, Education, Political Empowerment, and Global Awareness—Black Boy R.I.S.E. introduces new initiatives emphasizing Resilience, Inclusion, Solidarity, and Empowerment, deepening our commitment to supporting and uplifting our communities.
Health Awareness – R.I.S.E. and Restore
Brother to Brother: A Self-Care and Well-Being Initiative supports queer men of color by providing a safe space for mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Through peer support and community resources, we foster resilience, healing, and empowerment, helping individuals thrive and prioritize self-care.
History & Heritage – R.I.S.E. and Remember Our Roots
Project Preservation: The Legacy Project is a program focused on celebrating and uplifting Black queer history through events, workshops, and community-driven initiatives. By creating spaces for storytelling, education, and cultural exchange, we aim to honor the legacy and resilience of Black queer individuals while fostering connections and empowerment for future generations.
Bayard Rustin Day of Service honors the legacy of Bayard Rustin through advocacy and community work. Inspired by his commitment to equality and social justice, this day encourages service projects and activism to promote inclusivity and change.
National AIDS Memorial Quilt Collab aims to increase Black representation in the National AIDS Memorial Quilt, ensuring that the stories and lives of Black individuals impacted by the HIV/AIDS epidemic are honored and remembered.
Education – R.I.S.E. to support the next generation
