This month, we pause to honor and celebrate our Hispanic brothers and members, whose culture, history, and heritage are an essential part of who we are as a fraternity. Our story is made stronger, fuller, and more beautiful because of the voices and experiences of our Hispanic members.

From September 15 to October 15, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx community. Your traditions, your families, and your stories are woven into our bond. We see you, we honor you, and we celebrate you.

As we continue the work to build a more inclusive fraternity that can hold the multitudes of who we are, we know that brotherhood is strongest when we recognize the beauty of our differences and the power of our unity. This month, we celebrate together — in rhythm, in culture, and in pride.
📣 Black Boy R.I.S.E. is more than a program name. It’s a call to action.

It’s about creating space, real space, for Black men and boys to be seen, heard, and valued in their fullness. To grow into men who carry not just the weight of their struggle, but the power of their truth.

This platform was built on love. On purpose. And most importantly, on solidarity.
Because when one rises, we all rise. This is how movements are made. It’s how legacies are built.

Black Boy R.I.S.E. is about reclaiming our narratives and using them to build a future rooted in dignity, excellence, and unity. And that includes our allies. Because solidarity opens the door to true allyship. The kind that shows up, stands up, and speaks out.

So if you’re ready to build something bigger than yourself, if you’re ready to be part of a movement that lifts as it climbs, this is your invitation. To R.I.S.E.

Let’s rise. Together.

Suicide Prevention Day 💜

As gay, bi, and same gender loving men of color, our community faces unique challenges — and too often, we carry them alone.

Today, we remind every brother, member, and friend: you are not alone. Your life, your voice, and your story matter. Do not underestimate the power of our relationships — there could be a someone waiting to hear from you.

💜 Call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org for 24/7, judgment-free support.

Together, we stand for one another. Together, we thrive.
Together we heal.

❤️ Delta Honors Charlotte Champion: Health Awareness ❤️

We are proud to honor Johnny Wilson — a tireless advocate for HIV awareness, equity in healthcare, and the empowerment of the Black LGBTQ+ community.

Diagnosed with HIV at just 13 years old, Johnny refused to let stigma define him. Instead, he turned his personal journey into a platform for education, advocacy, and change — beginning with the courageous act of disclosing his status to his high school peers as part of a science project.

From his early volunteer work with RAIN (Regional AIDS Interfaith Network) to his leadership as Director of Outreach and now at Mecklenburg County Public Health, Johnny has reimagined how outreach and HIV services are delivered. He has developed culturally responsive programs, launched innovative livestreams for “taboo conversations,” and leveraged digital platforms to connect communities to care.

Today, Johnny oversees Mecklenburg County’s Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) federal grant and leads HIV Linkage-to-Care programs, streamlining the path from diagnosis to treatment and helping people achieve undetectable viral loads faster than ever before. His leadership has garnered national recognition, including features in The Washington Post and The Big Cities Health Coalition, as well as the 2021 Heart of the Community Award.

Johnny’s work is a testament to resilience, representation, and the belief that everyone deserves access to the resources that ensure health and well-being.

🌟 Join us at the Gold Tie Gayla as we celebrate Johnny’s extraordinary contributions to public health and community empowerment.

The journey is long, but the fight must continue. Freedom for all.

For 40 years, Delta Phi Upsilon has walked the long road toward liberation for queer Black men. We’ve endured the highs and lows, weathered storms, celebrated milestones, and carried each other forward, because the fight for equity and justice is ongoing, complex, and deeply personal.

Today, as America marks Independence Day, we hold the tension of this moment. We celebrate our resilience while acknowledging that freedom has not always included all of us.

Still, we remain committed to the fight.. for our members, for the communities we serve, and for the very soul of this nation.

Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. Observes National HIV Testing Day | Friday, June 27, 2025

Today, we join communities across the country in recognizing National HIV Testing Day, an annual observance focused on encouraging everyone to get tested for HIV, know their status, and connect to care and treatment.

As a fraternity founded by Black queer men, in service to queer men of color, we understand that sexual health is an essential part of our collective power. HIV continues to disproportionately impact our community but stigma, silence, and fear should never stand in the way of wellness.

Testing is an act of empowerment. It’s a commitment to yourself and a show of love for your community. Knowing your status opens the door to prevention, care, and thriving.
#dphiu #deltaphiupsilon #hivt #nationalhivtestingday
On this day, we encourage our brothers, our families, and our communities to take charge of their health:

📌Get tested
📌Know your status
📌Get connected to care and support

Together, we break stigma. Together, we protect each other. Together, we thrive.
Today marks ten years since the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize marriage equality nationwide it was a historic moment in LGBTQ+ history. While it is true that for many Black queer men, marriage was not always the foremost priority in our pursuit of freedom, we recognize that this milestone represents an important piece of the larger fight for dignity, visibility, and liberation.

For us, the struggle has never been singular. It has always been about the right to live fully, love openly, and exist without fear in our families, in our communities, and in this world. Marriage equality was one step on a longer journey toward a future where our whole selves are recognized, valued, and protected.

As members of Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Inc., we know that our work is about more than legal victories. It’s about building a world where Black and Brown queer men are free to love, free to lead, free to thrive, and free to define family and community on our own terms.

As we commemorate this anniversary, let it serve both as a moment of reflection and a reminder that our liberation cannot and will not be legislated alone. It is built through our brotherhood, our advocacy, our mutual care, and our relentless commitment to each other.

May we continue to walk boldly in our truth knowing that every win, every act of resistance, and every expression of love moves us closer to the freedom we deserve.

In Pride & Love
