THE MARCH. THE MOVEMENT. THE MAN BEHIND IT.

On August 28, 1963, more than 250,000 people gathered in Washington, D.C. for the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom—a defining moment in the movement for Black freedom and equality.

Today, we remember the march, and we proudly honor one of its chief architects: Bro. Bayard Rustin.

Rustin was a brilliant strategist, organizer, activist, and unapologetically gay Black man whose leadership was essential to making the March on Washington possible. Though history too often pushed him to the margins, his fingerprints remain all over the movement.

As members of Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Inc., we are proud to claim Bro. Bayard Rustin as an Honorary Member and to carry forward a legacy that reminds us that our Blackness, our queerness, our leadership, and our service have always had the power to move the world.

Today, we honor the march.
We honor the movement.

And we honor Bro. Bayard Rustin.
Radical Brotherhood. Relentless Service.

There is something powerful about creating something. But it is legendary to create something that survives.

Today, we celebrate 15 years of the Legendary Lambda Chapter—15 years of brotherhood, service, sacrifice, memories, and brothers choosing one another.

Lambda is more than a chapter. It is part of the blood that runs through the veins of Delta Phi Upsilon.

To the twelve who started it: Look at what you built.

To every brother who carried it: Thank you for keeping the promise.

To those carrying it today: Take good care of what was given to you.

Happy Pride Month!

Pride is not something we celebrate only in June. Pride is woven into our very foundation.

Since 1985, Delta Phi Upsilon was created in the spirit of pride, courage, authenticity, and brotherhood. At a time when living openly required extraordinary bravery, our founder dared to create a space where men could stand fully in who they are and support one another in doing the same.

We are not new to this. We are true to this.

For more than four decades, our existence has been an act of courage. Our brotherhood has been a declaration that authenticity is strength, not weakness. Our audacity to show up as ourselves has challenged expectations, broken barriers, and created pathways for generations to follow.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we honor those who came before us, those who stand with us today, and those who will come after us. We remain committed to leading by example and showing the world that men can be powerful in their authenticity, courageous in their truth, and unstoppable in their purpose.

This year we are honored to support the Akron AIDS Collaborative and the Bayard Rustin LGBTQ+ Resource Center in Ohio. Our contribution will help support their monthly community dinner, a space where people can gather for nourishment, connection, and care.

Pride and Responsibility
On National Black HIV AIDS Awareness Day, we speak from a place of pride and responsibility.

As Black queer, gay, and same gender loving men, we are still Black. Our stories and our health are part of the larger Black community. This day invites us to be honest about our realities and to share them with our people, not in fear, but in love.

Many of the health challenges in our community are connected to the conditions we live in, the resources we can reach, and the stress our bodies carry. None of this is about blame. It is about truth and care. When we understand what affects us, we can make choices that protect our lives.

Knowing your status is an act of self-respect. Seeking care is an act of strength. Supporting one another is an act of community.

Today, on our 41st Founder’s Day we honor our founder, Trevor A. Charles, whose vision gave birth to Delta Phi Upsilon in 1985.

He created more than a fraternity. He created a home for Gay men of color to lead, to serve, and to belong. At a time when traditional spaces often denied us access, he imagined a brotherhood rooted in authenticity, history, and purpose.

Because of his vision, Delta Phi Upsilon stands today on the open motto “Service Without Expectation,” grounded in service, leadership, and connection.

We honor our the visionary and every early member who joined him is seeing our potential before the world did.

His legacy lives through every brother and member of D Phi U.

World AIDS Day 2025

Today, we honor the lives, stories, and strength of those affected by HIV and AIDS.
And this year, without any acknowledgement from the administration we’re reminded of something our community has always known:

We survive because we rely on each other.
We care for one another.
We fight stigma together.
We push for resources, visibility, and justice together.

Our resilience has never come from institutions. It has come from organizers, caregivers, educators, activists, loved ones, and every person who continues to advocate, support, and show up. It has come from US!

As we reflect today, let’s commit to staying informed, getting tested, supporting access to treatment, uplifting those living with HIV, and continuing the work toward an AIDS-free future.

Community is our power.
Solidarity is our legacy.

This month, we pause to honor and celebrate our Hispanic brothers and members, whose culture, history, and heritage are an essential part of who we are as a fraternity. Our story is made stronger, fuller, and more beautiful because of the voices and experiences of our Hispanic members.

From September 15 to October 15, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx community. Your traditions, your families, and your stories are woven into our bond. We see you, we honor you, and we celebrate you.

As we continue the work to build a more inclusive fraternity that can hold the multitudes of who we are, we know that brotherhood is strongest when we recognize the beauty of our differences and the power of our unity. This month, we celebrate together — in rhythm, in culture, and in pride.

📣 Black Boy R.I.S.E. is more than a program name. It’s a call to action.

It’s about creating space, real space, for Black men and boys to be seen, heard, and valued in their fullness. To grow into men who carry not just the weight of their struggle, but the power of their truth.

This platform was built on love. On purpose. And most importantly, on solidarity.
Because when one rises, we all rise. This is how movements are made. It’s how legacies are built.

Black Boy R.I.S.E. is about reclaiming our narratives and using them to build a future rooted in dignity, excellence, and unity. And that includes our allies. Because solidarity opens the door to true allyship. The kind that shows up, stands up, and speaks out.
